WHO’S WHO AT THE CLUB

ARTHUR GREEN - FORMER PRESIDENT

Arthur was a Founder Member of the Society, along with Barry Handford, way back in early 1967. The honour of “Life President” was bestowed upon Arthur at the 11th. Annual General Meeting on 5 May 1978. Arthur sadly passed away in March 2016.

BARRY HANDFORD - PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER MEMBER

Barry was a Founder Member of the Society, along with Arthur Green, and was the Society’s first Secretary from 1967 to 1970. Barry has worked in many capacities at the club and can sit in on committee meetings and offer words of wisdom and encouragement but he has no voting powers.

ALAN WALTERS – CHAIRMAN.

Alan has been a member of the LMS since 1968. He was elected to the committee on 12th May 1971 and became chairman on 7th May 1982, a post he has held ever since. From 1987 to 2006 Alan organised 18 Chesterfield Model Railway Exhibitions, a fine effort indeed. Alan owns “WD Models” on Chatsworth Road and is always pleased to see members in the shop. All members receive a discount on any items not already discounted.

STEVE SPENCER – TREASURER.

Steve joined the Society in 1977 and became Treasurer on 2 May 1981 and has done sterling work in this respect ever since. He does an excellent job in keeping the Society’s finances in order.

IAN BAGLEY - SECRETARY

Ian joined the society in 1972 and has been on the committee previously. He was ‘persuaded’ to take over the job of secretary in early 2014 and is also the club’s webmaster.

SANDY CRAWLEY

Sandy has been a member for many years and is rebuilding the ‘N’ gauge layout. She is currently our excursion organiser and newsletter editor.

DEAN JAGGER - MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY.

Dean was brought onto the Committee as the Membership Secretary (Mem.Sec.) on 4 December 1987 filling the vacancy by the previous occupants who had to stand down due to lack of time caused by work commitments. He has held this post ever since. Dean is renowned for his “entertaining” Mem.Sec. Reports at the AGMs.

There are two other committee members, Stuart Cusworth and Ian Robinson
